August 29 (SeeNews) - The Belgrade Stock Exchange said it became a Partner Exchange of the United Nations Sustainable Stock Exchanges (SSE) initiative, promoting transparent and sustainable capital markets.
"This collaboration with the UN partnership programme for sustainable capital markets will help us build capacity to further promote the integration of sustainability considerations and corporate transparency into our issuer’s corporate behaviour and business practices," the CEO of the Belgrade Stock Exchange, Sinisa Krneta, said in a statement on Tuesday.
The partnership will help the Belgrade Stock Exchange strengthen its efforts in promoting the role of stock exchanges in fostering economic growth, improving SME access to finance and advancing corporate governance disclosure and performance among companies in Serbia, Krneta said.
The SSE provides a peer-to-peer learning platform for exploring how exchanges can encourage sustainable investment and enhance corporate transparency, and ultimately performance on environmental, social and corporate governance issues.
The partnership is a United Nations Partnership Programme convened by the UN Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), the UN Global Compact, the UN Environment Finance Initiative (UNEP FI), and the Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI).
