BELGRADE (Serbia), October 14 (SeeNews) – Serbia's main airport, in Belgrade, serviced 4.75 million passengers in the first nine months of 2019, up 7.4% on the year, its operator - France's Vinci Airports, said.
In the 12 months ended September 2019, the number of passengers serviced by Belgrade international airport rose 6.3% to 5.969 million, Vinci Airports said in a statement last week.
The number of passengers handled by Belgrade airport in the third quarter of 2019 alone went up 9.3% on the year to 2.139 million, Vinci Airports said.
The growth of Belgrade airport's passenger traffic was driven by the opening of new routes by Air Serbia to Cairo, Helsinki and Madrid, of Air France and ASL to Paris and Wizz Air to Lyon.
Vinci Airports officially took over the management of Belgrade airport in December.
In 2018, Belgrade serviced record-high 5.641 million passengers, up 5.4% year-on-year.
