June 13 (SeeNews) - Austria's Falkensteiner Michaeler Tourism Group said it plans to invest 300 million euro ($315 million) in the construction of new hotel, villa and campsite capacities in two Croatian destinations, in which it is already present - Zadar and Krk, in the next five years.
“Of the total amount to be invested, around 150 million euro are planned in Zadar for the Punta Skala resort. Here, over the next 5 years, we want to build dependencies that will be part of the completely renovated Hotel Diadora, which has been upgraded to the 5-star category, another Premium Living product and villas,” Alexandra Geyer, head of the company's PR & public affairs department, said in an e-mailed statement to SeeNews on Saturday.
A major investment is also planned in Borik, where the company is planning extensive renovations and a green flat resort, which is currently being negotiated with the city authorities of Zadar, in the northern part of the Adriatic region of Dalmatia.
Moreover, the company plans to expand its presence on the island of Krk, in the northern Croatian Adriatic region of Kvarner.
“In Punat, on the island of Krk, we are planning an investment of 65 million euro to convert, among other things, the current car campsite into a five-star premium campsite,” she added.
Falkensteiner runs 27 four- and five-star hotels and two apartment complexes in Austria, Italy, Croatia, Montenegro, Slovakia, Serbia and Czech Republic, and a premium campsite in Zadar in Croatia, according to its website.
