August 13 (SeeNews) - Hamburg-based Aurubis said that the copper concentrate throughput of its smelter in Pirdop, Bulgaria, increased by an annual 22% to 1,035,000 tonnes in the first nine months of fiscal year 2019/2020, started October 1.
Cathode output at Pridop rose by 7% year-on-year in the period under review, reaching 168,000 tonnes, Aurubis said in an interim financial statement earlier this week.
Sulfuric acid output at Pirdop reached 1,050,000 tonnes at the end of June, marking 27% growth on an annual comparison basis.
In the third quarter of fiscal year 2019/2020 alone, concentrate throughput at Pirdop jumped 63% to 353,000 tonnes, while cathode output added 19% to 56,000 tonnes.
The Pirdop plant showed a significantly higher concentrate throughput in the third quarter, which, however, had been influenced by a planned maintenance shutdown, Aurubis noted.
The Pirdop smelter is located 80 kilometres east of Sofia.
