TIRANA (Albania), February 13 (SeeNews) – The Albanian Development Fund (ADF) said it has selected Azerbaijan-based company Alkelik Group as the winner of a tender for the implementation of the second lot of a German bank KfW-funded programme for the construction or upgrade of water supply networks in Albania’s rural areas.
The assignment is estimated to cost 10.2 million euro ($11.5 million), ADF said in a statement last week. The construction works must be completed within 12 months.
The second lot of the project includes construction or reconstruction of water supply systems in the rural areas in the northern municipalities of Diber, Klos, Tropoje, Lezhe and Mat, the statement added.
The programme's objective is to improve the living conditions of the inhabitants of rural areas and support the economic development of these areas.
The programme is financed by KfW with a 25 million euro loan and with 9.8 million euro EU funding through the instrument for Pre-Accession Assistance (IPA) 2013, ADF added. It is planned to cover the whole territory of Albania.
The Albanian Development Fund (ADF) is a public agency whose mission is to encourage a sustainable, balanced and cohesive socio-economic development at local and regional level. The ADF was established at the beginning of 1993, based on an agreement between the Albanian government and the World Bank.
