TIRANA (Albania), May 22 (SeeNews) – Albania's electricity production increased to 1,546 GWh in the first quarter of 2020 from 1,281 GWh a year earlier, the country's statistical office said on Friday.
Albania's power exports jumped to 346.5 GWh from 84.5 GWh in the January-March period, whereas imports rose to 917.1 GWh from 900.8 GWh, INSTAT said in a statement.
Some 51.6% of the country's electricity production in the first quarter of 2020 was generated by independent power producers, 48% by public hydro plants and 0.4% by other producers.
Grid losses increased by 8% year-on-year to 573.2 GWh in the first quarter. Distribution losses rose to 521.7 GWh from 492.7 GWh, while transmission losses increased to 51.5 GWh from 38.2 GWh.
