TIRANA (Albania), March 5 (SeeNews) – Albania's electricity production decreased to 5,208 GWh in 2019 from 8,552 GWh in 2018, the country's statistical office said on Thursday.
Albania's power exports fell to 770.5 GWh from 2,685 GWh, whereas imports increased to 3,177 GWh from 1,772 GWh, INSTAT said in a statement.
Almost the entire output of 5,185 GWh was generated by hydro power plants, with 49% produced by state-owned companies, whereas the balance came from independent electricity producers. Independent producers of other renewable sources contributed 22.2 GWh.
Losses on Albania's power grid were reduced by 7.3% to 1,653 GWh in 2019. Distribution losses decreased by 10.9% to 1,485 GWh, while transmission losses decreased to 168.6 GWh from 242.7 GWh.
