TIRANA (Albania), March 19 (SeeNews) – Albania’s annual harmonised index of consumer prices (HICP) increased by 2.1% in February, following a 2.4% rise in January, the country's statistical office said on Tuesday.
The strongest upward push on annual inflation came from a 4.9% rise in the harmonised index of consumer prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages, followed by hotels and restaurants (+2.8%), and alcoholic beverages and tobacco (+1.5), INSTAT said in a statement.
On a monthly comparison basis, Albania's HICP rose 0.8% in February, after increasing by 2.3% in the previous month.
Albania's non-harmonised consumer price inflation slowed down to 1.7% year-on-year in February, from 1.9% in January, INSTAT said earlier this month.
INSTAT started publishing inflation measurement through the HICP in February 2017. The HICP measures consumer price inflation in the euro area. It is compiled according to a methodology that has been harmonised across EU countries to ensure that the data for one country can be compared with the data for another.
