TIRANA (Albania), January 18 (SeeNews) – Albania’s annual harmonised index of consumer prices (HICP) increased by 1.8% in December, following a 1.4% rise in November, the country's statistical office said on Friday.
The strongest upward push on annual inflation came from a 3.1% rise in both the harmonised index of consumer prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages, as well as hotels and restaurants, followed by recreation and culture (+2.4), and housing, water and electricity (+1.6), INSTAT said in a statement.
On a monthly comparison basis, Albania's HICP rose 1.4% in December, after decreasing 0.5% in the previous month.
Albania's non-harmonised consumer price inflation rose by 1.8% year-on-year in December, after increasing at the same annual rate in November, INSTAT said earlier this month.
INSTAT started publishing inflation measurement through the HICP in February 2017. The HICP measures consumer price inflation in the euro area. It is compiled according to a methodology that has been harmonised across EU countries to ensure that the data for one country can be compared with the data for another.
