TIRANA (Albania), May 17 (SeeNews) – Albania’s annual harmonised index of consumer prices (HICP) rose by 1.5% in April, following a 1.4% rise in March, the country's statistical office said on Thursday.
The strongest upward push on annual inflation came from a 3.2% rise in the harmonised index of consumer prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages, followed by hotels and restaurants (+2.2%), and housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels (+1.1), INSTAT said in a statement.
On a monthly comparison basis, Albania's HICP fell 0.2% in April, after dropping 0.5% in the previous month.
Albania's non-harmonised consumer price inflation rose by 1.4% year-on-year in April, after increasing by 1.1% in March, INSTAT said earlier this month.
INSTAT started publishing inflation measurement through the HICP in February 2017. The HICP measures consumer price inflation in the euro area. It is compiled according to a methodology that has been harmonised across EU countries to ensure that the data for one country can be compared with the data for another.
