TIRANA (Albania), April 27 (SeeNews) – The gross written premiums of Albanian insurers decreased 9.56% year-on-year in the first quarter of 2020, reaching 3.59 billion leks ($30.9 million/28.5 million euro), official figures showed.
Gross written premiums from non-life insurance fell 8.77% to 3.32 billion leks, while the life insurance segment earned premiums of 266.2 million leks, down 7.44%, according to figures published on the website of Albanian Financial Supervisory Authority on Friday.
Total gross claims paid increased to 2.26 billion leks as at the end of March, from 1.50 billion leks a year earlier.
The statistics comprise data from eight insurance companies operating in Albania.
