March 12 (SeeNews) - The central bank of Albania said it has decided to exclude loans issued in Kosovo from high-risk exposure calculations.
The Supervisory Council of the Bank of Albania has approved the amendment to the regulation governing how financial institutions report their capital adequacy, the central bank said in a press release last week.
Currently there are two bank subsidiaries operating in Kosovo that are affiliated with banks in Albania: Banka Kombetare Tregtare (BKT), which is owned by Turkish conglomerate Calik Holding, and Credins Bank.
BKT Kosovo was the third largest lender out of 11 banks operating in Kosovo in terms of assets at end-December 2023, according to the Kosovo Banking Association. Credins Bank was the tenth largest lender.
