TIRANA (Albania), August 15 (SeeNews) – The net profit of Albania's banking sector fell to 10.5 billion leks ($96.1 million/86.1 million euro) as at the end of June, from 11.0 billion leks a year earlier, the Albanian Association of Banks (AAB) said.
The Albanian banking sector's outstanding loan portfolio shrank to 561.8 billion leks, from 582.3 billion leks at the end of June 2018, AAB said in a monthly report earlier this week, citing data of the country's central bank.
The ratio of problem loans to total loans dropped to 11.23% from 13.3%.
Deposits in Albanian banks slightly increased to 1,145.8 billion leks at the end of June from 1,146.2 billion leks a year earlier.
The total assets of Albania’s banking system decreased to 1,423 billion leks from 1,426 billion leks.
Return on assets (ROA) fell to 1.55 billion leks from 1.7 billion leks. Return on equity (ROE) also decreased, to 14.25 billion leks from 15.0 billion leks.
The figures comprise the financial results of 14 Albanian banks, as compared to 16 in 2018. The largest by assets among them are Banka Kombetare Tregtare (BKT) and Raiffeisen Bank Albania.
