TIRANA (Albania), April 8 (SeeNews) – Albania’s government decided to set up a guarantee fund of 11 billion leks ($93.9 million/86.4 million euro) for loans to businesses hit by the government's measures for preventing the spread of the coronavirus disease, the country’s finance ministry said.
The sovereign loan guarantee fund is set up as part of the government’s $370 million relief package to support the coronavirus-affected sectors of the economy presented last month, the ministry said in a press release late on Tuesday.
The number of coronavirus cases in Albania rose by 17 over the past 24 hours to 400, the health ministry said in another press release on Wednesday. The death toll from the infection remained unchanged at 22 compared to the previous day.
Albania’s government has declared a state of emergency and imposed a nationwide curfew from 1.00 pm to 5.00 am in an effort to limit the spread of the disease.
