Albania plans to legalise cannabis for medical use - PM Albanian Government/All Rights Reserved

TIRANA (Albania), May 12 (SeeNews) – Albania’s government is working on a final draft law legalising cannabis for medical use, prime minister Edi Rama said.

The draft is expected to be voted in the parliament before the summer break, Rama said in a video file posted on Facebook on Tuesday.

“We have to move forward with this project. It has been four years since we started discussions on this issue, which is actually a global trend,” Rama added.

The government has been working with both local and foreign experts for a year on the draft legislation legalising cannabis, according to reports in local media quoting Rama.

Elsewhere in Southeast Europe, Albania's eastern neighbour North Macedonia legalised the use of cannabis for medical purposes in 2016.
