March 5 (SeeNews) - The Romanian subsidiary of European healthcare services provider Affidea said it will acquire local oncology and radiotherapy chain of clinics MedEuropa for an undisclosed price.
This acquisition will allow Affidea Romania to add radiotherapy to its service offering, bringing it on par with other Affidea subsidiaries in Europe, the company said in a press release on Monday.

"Both Affidea and MedEuropa enjoy a very good reputation and trust among patients, which are based on high quality standards and clinically proven medical results. I am confident that the integration of these services will have a positive impact on medical outcomes for cancer patients," said Affidea Group CEO and chairman Guy Bloomfield.
MedEuropa currently runs four oncology clinics - in Bucharest, Constanta, Brasov, and Oradea, with a fifth to open in Iasi.
"We believe that an integrated medical service solution is the optimal one for oncology patients. That is why the integration of MedEuropa into the large family of Affidea is an ideal way to provide the best care with efficient results for oncology patients in Romania," Philippe Jacobs, president, and Silviu Savin, executive director of MedEurope, said in a joint statement.
Last month, Affidea Romania acquired three clinics in the northeastern city of Suceava from local peer Explora.
Established in 1991, Affidea Group has since expanded to 15 countries and runs 355 medical centres. In 2002, Affidea entered Romania, where it currently operates 53 clinics.
