July 17 (SeeNews) - A1 Telekom Austria Group said the earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) of its Serbian unit Vip Mobile rose by 7.4% year-on-year to 39.4 million euro ($44.2 million) in the first half of 2019.
The unit's total revenue increased 8% to 134 million euro in the first half as a result of the solid demand for unlimited voice services, SMS tariffs with flat data allowances and mobile WiFi routers, Telekom Austria said in an annual financial statement published on Tuesday.
In the second quarter of 2019 alone, the EBITDA of Telekom Austria's Serbian unit grew 4.1% on the year to 20.4 million euro, while its revenue went up 8.2% to 68.9 million euro.
The number of wireless subscribers increased by 4.5% year-on-year to 2.271 million at end-June.
Vip Mobile's main competitors are Telenor Serbia, a unit of Czech Republic-based investment group PPF, and state-owned MTS.
Elsewhere in Southeast Europe, A1 Telekom Austria is present in Bulgaria, Croatia, North Macedonia and Slovenia.
