In the first quarter of 2008 the share of the agricultural sector in the structure of Bulgaria's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) dropped to 3.5%.
In 2007 the agricultural sector contributed 5.1% to GDP, due to decreased production. Exports of agricultural products marked a drop, while imports increased.
In 2005 the Bulgarian agricultural sector was seriously affected by bad weather conditions. Due to the great quantity of rainfall, most of the vegetable crops were damaged or destroyed. The investments in the sector declined, due to lack of financial resources. |
