Democratic Union for Integration (DUI) is the biggest political party in the Republic of Macedonia among ethnic Albanians and third largest political party in the Macedonian Sobranie. The party was established three months before the parliamentary elections in 2002 by members of the para-militant ethnic Albanian National Liberation Army (NLA), which fought with the state security forces in the civil war in 2001. At the 2002 legislative elections DUI won 11% and was part of the ruling coalition. At the next parliamentary elections it increased its influence but was not invited in the formation of the new government. Their place was taken by the second largest Albanian political party, the Democratic Party of the Albanians. Party president is former NLA leader Ali Ahmeti.
