Socialist Integration Movement - Former Prime Minister Ilir Meta (1999-2002), formed the party in September 2004. The movement declared its separation from the Socialists over the failure of the ruling party to integrate Albania with the EU and NATO, as well as over accusations of corruption. After the split in 2004, the Socialists remained with 66 seats in the parliament, down from 73, and the movement acquired nine.
