The European Commission on Monday urged leaders of political parties in Kosovo to reach consensus despite inconclusive early general election in order to form a functioning government as a condition for Kosovo to progress towards achieving EU candidate status.
Kosovo's ruling Self-Determination Movement, Levizja Vetevendosje (LVV), has won the June 7 early parliamentary election with 42.91% of the vote based on 99.44% of the ballots counted, the Central Election Commission (CEC) said on Monday.
Kosovo will hold early general elections on June 7, which will be the second snap vote in six months.
The leader of Slovenian Democratic Party, SDS, Janez Jansa won on Friday a mandate to form a government, local media reported.
The Slovenian Democratic Party, SDS, submitted to parliament the candidacy for prime minister of its leader Janez Jansa, after signing a coalition agreement with four other parties, it said on Friday.
