May 10 (SeeNews) - Slovenia's trade balance deficit expanded to 1.24 billion euro ($1.34 billion) in the first quarter of 2024, from 84.3 million euro in the like period of 2023, the country's statistical office said.
Exports in the first quarter of 2024 grew 2.1% on the year to 14.615 billion euro, while imports rose 8.7% to 15.856 billion euro, the statistical office, SURS, said in a statement.
The European Union was Slovenia’s main trading partner in the first quarter, absorbing 7.958 billion euro of the country's exports and providing 7.942 billion euro of its imports.
In March alone, Slovenia's exports went down 8.1% on the year to 2.788 billion euro, while imports declined 12.2% to 2.731 billion euro, resulting in a 62.9 million euro trade deficit for the month.
