April 24 (SeeNews) - Romanian do-it-yourself (DIY) retailer Dedeman said on Wednesday that it will open its 62nd store in the country on April 26, in the western city of Arad, following a 19 million euro ($20.2 million) investment.
The store, which is the first one Dedeman will open in 2024, will employ 175 staff, Dedeman said in a press release.
The new store has a built-up area of 18,000 sq m, of which 2,200 sq m are allotted to a heated greenhouse. It also features a 22 kW EV charging station and a rooftop-mounted photovoltaic (PV) system with an installed capacity of some 400 kWp.
Last year, the DIY retailer opened two stores, in the cities of Craiova and Petrosani.
Dedeman, founded in 1992 by two Romanian entrepreneurs, has over 13,000 employees. In addition to its brick and mortar stores, the company owns five logistics centres and an auto park.
