April 8 (SeeNews) - The green loan portfolio of North Macedonia's commercial banks rose 29.1% year-on-year to 19.9 billion denars ($349.8 million/323.2 million euro) in the fourth quarter of 2023, the central bank said on Monday.
Compared to the previous quarter, the banks' green loan portfolio was 5% higher at the end of December, the central bank said in a statement.
"The growth of green lending is mostly due to the loans taken by companies, while most green loans were extended by large banks," the central bank said.
The share of green loans in the total loan portfolio was 4.5% at the end of 2023.
