The number of transported passengers in the first six months of 2007, relative to the same period 2006, decreased by 13.3%, with significant fall in domestic transport. In international transport, passengers transport increased by 34.8 %. Decrease in domestic transport appears as the result of the changed relation to Montenegro. Namely, from the second half of 2006, transport of passengers and goods to and from Montenegro has been presented within international transport. Decreased number of transported passengers in domestic transport amounts to 14.3 %. Referring to passenger transport, only air transport shows the positive growth rates. The total made pkm are by 15.7% lower, where road transport shows the fall of 21.1 %.
Volume of transported goods in the first half of 2007 saw an increase of 15.4%. Simultaneously, operations volume noted an increase of 13.8 %. These trends indicate the decreased average ton kilometer: from 273.8 km to 270.0 km. All types of land transport showed an increase, related to the volume of the goods transported, except pipeline transport. The greatest increase of 39.0 % was noted in road transport. Ton kilometers in inland waterway transport noted increase of 24.0 %, primarily due to the increased crude minerals transport. Air transport of goods, although minor in comparison to other transport types, shows the slight increasing tendency.
Decreased number of transported passengers in railway transport is continued in the first half of 2007. Number of transported passengers decreased by 9.2% and the significant decrease was noted referring to the number of passengers in domestic transport. In the same period, goods transport showed the increase in all transport types. Operations volume, expressed in tkm, noted a 13.8 % growth relative to the same period 2006.
Road passenger transport noted the fall of 13.8 %, together with the significant fall of volume operations, expressed in pkm, by 21.1 %. The expressed negative trends appeared because of the decreased number of passengers in domestic transport. Referring to the road transport of goods, there was an increase of 39.0 %, where operations volume increase and increase of quantities of the transported goods were almost identical.
The oil transport via pipelines decreased by 2.6% regarding the transported oil volume and by 3.9% regarding the tkm made. The natural gas transport also decreased, by 10.8 %, as well as the operations volume, by 12.9 %.
Air transport expressed positive trends referring to passengers transport. Number of transported passengers increased by 4.4 %, while the realized passenger kilometers increased by 9.1%. Coming out of freight road vehicles increased by 22.7%; number of freight road vehicles with foreign registration plates, which come out of our country increased quicker than the vehicles with domestic registration plates. Freight vehicles transit decreased by 31.4 %, first of all because of the changed transport directions referring to Romania and Bulgaria. Actually, these two countries became the EU members and the customs formalities became easier; consequently, transit transport of Bulgarian and Romanian vehicles decreased. Number of freight vehicles with the Bulgarian registration plates decreased from 70464 (in the first half of 2006) to 29839 (in the first half of 2007). In the same period, number of vehicles with the Romanian plates decreased from 22891 to only 472 freight vehicles.
