PREFACE
“Statistical Yearbook of Serbia 2007” is 40th edition in sequence (the first seven editions were published in the 1949-1955 period of time and from 1974 every year on). The Yearbook is a complex yearly publication and contains basic data elements from all aspects of social and economic life. The Statistical Office of the Republic of Serbia publishes all results by fields of all statistical surveys in special edition “Bulletins” and in some other publications.
The “Statistical Yearbook of Serbia” offers data from almost all statistical surveys, for the Republic of Serbia, Central Serbia and autonomous provinces. Since 1999 the data for Republic of Serbia have represented the summary of appropriate data for Central Serbia and Vojvodina. Statistical data for Kosovo and Metohia have not been available since UNMIK, as UN representative, took over the civil administration in that region. The data for municipalities are published in a separate publication “Municipalities of Serbia”, and together with the “Statistical Yearbook of Serbia”, represent integral parts for reference year.
Besides the data collected by the Statistical Office of the Republic of Serbia, the Yearbook contains also the results of statistical surveys of other authorized bodies and organizations such as: Payments Operation Services of National Bank of Serbia, Republic Hydro-meteorological Institute of Serbia, Seismological Institute of the Republic of Serbia, Republic Geodesy Bureau, Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Internal Affairs, National Employment Service, Health and Insurance Funds, Geographical Institute of Belgrade, Military Geographical Institute, Bureau for Environment Protection of Serbia etc.
