On the basis of the number of issued permits in September 2008, building of 1504 dwellings with average area of 67.3 m2 was recorded. Number of dwellings increased, according to the issued permits, by 15.2 % when compared to September 2007. Out of the total number of dwellings in residential buildings, 15.6 % of dwellings will be built in single – dwelling buildings, with average area of 132.0 m2, while 78.7 % of dwellings will be in the buildings with three and more dwellings, with significantly smaller average area of 53.7 m2.

In September 2008, 1039 building permits were issued, presenting the decrease of 1.6 % when compared to September 2007, while this number in the period January – September 2008 decreased by 4.5% when compared the same period in 2007. index of anticipated value in September 2008 is by 21.6 % lower than in September 2007.

Observed by types of constructions, in September 2008, 83.4 % of permits related to buildings and 16.6 % to civil engineering. When referring only to buildings, 76.5 % related to residential buildings and 23.5 % to non – residential ones, while regarding civil engineering, the greatest number related to pipelines, communication and electric power lines, 75.0 %.

Anticipated value of works on new building in September 2008 amounts to 78.3% of totally anticipated value of works. Observed by districts, the greatest construction activity was noted in the city of Belgrade, amounting to 19.3%, followed by Srem District, 12.3 %, South Backa District, 9.0% and Rasina District, 8.2 %, while shares of other districts were smaller, between 0.3 % and 6.2%.
