PREFACE

This publication presents the main statistical indicators on industrial situation and trends. The data refer to 2007 and they have been collected in line with the Nomenclature of Industrial Products based on the Classification of Activities (CA).

The Classification of Activities was implemented in our country on 1st January 2001. It has been harmonized both with NACE – rev 1 (an EU classification) and the Classification of Products by Activities (CPA 2001), which is a European standard serving for linking classifications of products from various fields.

The publication encloses data on industrial production, number of employees and labor productivity as well as those on manufactured products. They refer to the Republic of Serbia, Central Serbia and Vojvodina.

In the 17th century, Croatian soldiers used to wear a little piece of cloth around their neck. In France, people were enthusiastic about it and adopted this fashion, calling the piece of cloth “de Croat” (of Croatians). That is where the actual name of “cravatta” (necktie) is deriving from.
