


































Serbia eyes around 7.0 pct increase in gross domestic product (GDP) for 2007, while inflation might reach 8.5 pct by the end of the year, Finance Minister Mirko Cvetkovic said on September 26, 2007.
Inflation for September will be up to 1.0 pct, forecast Cvetkovic.
The projections of the finance ministry are that Serbia’s GDP per capita will reach 4,000 euro ($5,600) per year in the short term.
[Editor’s note: Serbia's economy grew by a real 8.7 pct in the first quarter of 2007 compared to a real growth of 6.3 pct in the same period of 2006. Serbia ended 2006 with an annual inflation rate of 6.6 pct versus 17.7 pct in 2005.
The previous government in Belgrade announced that GDP per capita rose to $4,028 (2,852 euro) at the end of 2006, compared to $3,285 (2,326 euro) in 2004.
The central bank targets core inflation of between 4.0 pct and 8.0 pct for 2007. Core inflation covers the prices that are not administered by the government.]
