BELGRADE (Serbia), March 9 (SeeNews) – Serbian road maintenance and construction company Putevi Srbije will aim for a break-even this year with both revenue and spending set at 51.8 billion dinars ($705.3 million/519.4 million euro), local media reported on Tuesday.
Some 35 billion dinars of the projected revenue will come from excises and the company's own income, broadcaster b92 (www.b92.net) quoted Putevi Srbije CEO Zoran Drobnjak as saying.
About five billion dinars will come from the Finance Ministry and two billion from the Infrastructure Ministry while the remaining 10 billion will be disbursed by global lenders.
The company would need an additional 20 billion dinars to bring Serbia’s road network into good shape over the next six to 10 years, he added.
The company executive recommended that Serbia upgrade 2,000-3,000 kilometres of its 17,000 kilometres of roads annually over the next five years, as that would lower their maintenance costs going forward.
Putevi Srbije plans to spend 15.8 billion dinars on road maintenance this year, with 13.7 billion slated for road upgrades and development and 8.4 billion dinars for the settling legal claims, Drobnjak said, adding that 4.7 billion dinars will be earmarked for research and project drafting. The rest will be used for Information system management, bill payments and quality programmes.
