"Mr. Boc informed me that I am on the list of ministers to be replaced and thanked me for the collaboration. I did not resign, I had no written resignation letter. I said goodbye and told the prime minister that my experience as a member of the cabient was interesting […]," Mediafax quoted Dumitru as saying.
Vladescu also met Boc privately at the government headquarters earlier on Thursday.
Transport Minister Radu Berceanu and Labour Minister Mihai Seitan also held separate discussions with Boc earlier on Thursday, Mediafax reported.
The country’s President Traian Basescu also discussed the planned cabinet reshuffle with Boc on Thursday morning.
Romania’s coalition cabinet barely survived a no-confidence vote in June over a package of austerity measures backed by the International Monetary Fund and aimed at cutting budget deficit to 6.8% of the projected gross domestic product this year from 7.2% last year.
The government raised value-added tax (VAT) to 24% from 19% and cut public sector wages by 25% as of July 1, arousing social unrest.
