The Minister of Economy, Mr. Fatmir Besimi signed the two Rulebooks that regulate this area, and which steam from the Law on vehicles such as: the Rulebook for identification and/or estimation of the technical condition of the vehicles and the Rulebook for single approval of the vehicle. The Rulebooks enter into force upon publishing in the “Official Gazette of the Republic of Macedonia”.
With these by-laws, the citizens are enabled in a period of 6 months to import used vehicles that comply with EURO 1 standards and during the next 6 years vehicles that comply with EURO 2 emission standards.
Beside the passenger vehicles with the Rulebook for single approval of the vehicles are covered also the vehicles from the categories: M (for transportation of passengers), N (for transportation of goods) and O (trailers).
The novelty in the Rulebooks is that the importers of vehicles need to complete customs procedure prior to the examination of the conformity of the vehicle (homologation). In case the importer does not receive positive estimation for the conformity (homologation), the funds for implementation of the customs procedure will be refunded.
With the adoption of these by-laws is enabled implementation into practice of the decision of the Government of the Republic of Macedonia for facilitation of the conditions and procedures for import of used vehicles and legalization of the vehicles with foreign registration plates in the country and will facilitate to large number of citizens to replace their old vehicles which are considered as big polluters of the environment, with better ones. At the same time this will significantly improve the age limit of the driving park in the country, it will create better safety of the traffic, as well as, upgrading of the quality of the environment.
