This result is pretty high for the region, said Margarita Boeva of Nielsen Online. The average age of Bulgarian Internet users is 28 years, which definitely refutes the myth that the web is used primarily by teenagers.
More than 80% of web surfers are from 18 to 40 years of age, while younger people comprise only 14% of all users, the data showed.
The number of men and women online is almost the same, and nearly half of the users are highly educated.
A third of users live in Sofia and more than 60% of them work for an average of 800 BGN (USD 522/EUR 410) a month.
Nielsen Online is currently monitoring a total of 230 websites and 130 brands of 20 Internet groups in Bulgaria. Eleven percent of online surfers already use their mobile phones to access the web.
