market Highlights

The market slumped driven by the international markets’ weakness and by the fear. SOFIX opened with around 10% decline as the panic obsessed speculators after the consecutive drop of Wall Street and they placed mainly market orders. Then investors calmed down and most positions managed to make slight reverse. The level of 600 points provided support but could easily be broken if the red color persist. First Investment Bank (5F4: 3.69; -4.82%) and BenchMark Fund Estates REIT (6BMA: 1.18; -1.67%) were most actively traded. The bank continued to attract market’s attention and the price swung between BGN 3.22 and BGN 3.69 in volatile trading. Bulgarian American credit Bank (5BN: 23.00; -8.00%) was on the forefront of the main index’s decrease as again was pressured by persistent sell off. On Wednesday, after the market close, Monbat (5MB: 6.50; -3.42%) announced that the Minister of Ecology of the Republic of Serbia was ceased the implementation of company’s project in Injia – Serbia but no remarks related to the ecological and technical implementation of the project had been made. 5MB hit BGN 6.02 at the beginning of the session but closed at BGN 6.50 supported by modest buying interest. It is difficult to say if the news is in the base of the decline or 5MB moved in accordance with the entire market.
