Uniqa started operations in Serbia in 2006 after it took over the local sector company Zepter Osiguranje, founded in 1998 and primarily active in life insurance. The Serbian insurer was renamed to Uniqa. Uniqa has offered car insurance in Serbia since the beginning of July 2007.
In the first quarter of 2007, Uniqa Serbia registered a 26 pct annual growth in premium income, substantially exceeding the average market growth of 16 pct, and is ranked fifth-largest insurer in the country.
