Visa liberalization for Western Balkan

Another obstacle has been overcame on a way for visa liberalization. EU Parliament overwhelmingly voted for adopting the Resolution which recommends abolition of visas for Macedonian, Serbian and Montenegro citizens on 19December 2009 instead on 1 January 2010.

- Macedonia has accomplished all conditions for visa liberalization, said EU Parliament.

EU parliamentarians expressly supported this Resolution for visa liberalization for Western Balkan’s countries. EU Commissioner for Justice Jacque Barro said that the European Commission fully supports visa liberalization for these countries, assessing that this was a historic decision that will have a strong political influence in the region.

Ministry of Foreign Affairs

The Macedonian Government on the last government meeting has decided the Office in Pristina to rise on level of the embassy. This Thursday the Deputy Prime Minister Abdulaki Ademi said that he is expecting this step to be followed by the authorities in Pristina, so they will soon open an embassy here in Skopje. According to Macedonian media, Stojan Karajanov is proposed for ambassador in Kosovo.
Kosovo and Macedonia established diplomatic relations after the border demarcation, on October 18.

BUILDING SECTOR

Macedonian foreign building operations during the period from January to September this year carried a total value of 2.3 billion denars (about 37 million euros), 2.3% less compared to the same period last year.
This was announced by the State Statistical Office, adding that the total value of contracted works abroad in the period January - September 2009 is 3 billion denars which is 39.8% less compared to the same period last year. In the period January-September 2009, construction works carried out in Albania, Ukraine and Croatia were uprising.

MINISTRY OF FINANCE

Ministry of Finance announce that in the next 2 years, the Government will issue bonds for denationalization. With the 9th and 10th emission of denationalization bonds, with amount of total 50 million euros, 600 citizens will take a part in this process of denationalization. Payments of the bonds shall be made annually.
This bonds are traded on the Macedonian Stock exchange. Citizens can use the denationalization bonds to buy shares from the companies owned by the Government. This type of bonds are issuing since 2002.

GOVERNMENT OF REPUBLIC OF Macedonia

Prime Minister of Macedonia Nikola Gruevski on Monday will make a brief visit in Bulgaria. Gruevski announced, that in Sofia he will have a meeting with Bulgarian Prime Minister Boiko Borissov. Government of Bulgaria said that Macedonia's road to European Union passes through Sofia.

EBRD FOR MACEONIAN Business CLIMATE

According to EBRD, Business climate in Macedonia is improving, but the implementation of law is on low level. They said that the economy is on track to recover in 2010. These are general conclusions from the team of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development during the visit to Macedonia. According to the EBRD, the Government’s projections for economic growth of 2% in 2010 year are real.
EBRD considers next year Macedonia will be on the right track and will continue with its development.
