SEVEN COMPANIES INTERESTED FOR PIPELINE PROJECT

Seven consortiums and companies from Ukraine, Spain, Germany, Skopje, and Kicevo submitted bids for the contract on public procurement for preparation of the project for the gas pipeline system in Macedonia. The Ministry of Transport and Communications reports that yesterday bids submitted the consortium MZT-Pumpi and Institute Juzhniigiprogas from Ukraine, the consortium Divi Consulting International from Germany and Divi Consulting International from Skopje, the consortium DIK Cakar-Partners from Skopje, The Institute of Civil Engineering in Skopje, KAT Plus from Kicevo, the company "Balkan Consulting" from Skopje, the company "Prima Engineering from Skopje, the company Idom Ingeneria from Spain and the company OAD Ukrgazproekt from Ukraine.
The Ministry informed that in the near future the commission for the implementation of public procurement will review the completeness and the validity of the submitted documentation and will evaluate the received bids and will choose the most favorable bidder.

PURE ENERGY DEVELOPMENT

The conference on pure energy development in Republic of Macedonia is due to be held today in Skopje. Macedonian Economy Minister Fatmir Besimi and China’s Ambassador to Macedonia Dong Chunfeng will have the honor to give the opening statement at the conference.
The conference aims to promote the technologies on renewable energies (small-sized hydro-plants photo-voltaic plants) and present the possibilities for project developments of using renewable energy sources in Macedonia. The conference has been organized by Macedonian Ministry of Economy and China’s embassy.

ACTIVE POPULATION

In the IV quarter of 2009, the labor force in the Republic of Macedonia numbered 921 534 persons, of which 622 720 or 67.6% were employed and 298 814 or 32.4% were unemployed persons. The number of employed persons in the IV quarter of 2009, compared to the same period of the last year, increased by 2.3%.
In comparison with the same period of 2008, the number of unemployed persons decreased by 2.4%. The activity rate in this period was 56.1, the employment rate was 37.9, whereas the unemployment rate was 32.4.

ENERGY EFFICIENCY

A workshop, titled “Energy efficiency in construction sector” will be opened by the Ministry of environment and special planning in cooperation with UNDP. A memorandum on cooperation between EVN and UNDP will be signed during the meeting.
Environment Minister Nexhati Jakupi will attend the meeting and sign the memorandum on energy efficiency in construction sector, which will pacify the climate changes.

industry EMPLOYEES

The index of the number of employees in industry in January 2010, in comparison with the same month of previous year, was 92.9.
The number of employees in industry in the section Mining and Quarrying in January 2010, in comparison with January 2009, decreased by 9.3 %, in Manufacturing industry decreased by 7.3 % and in the section Electricity, gas and water supply decreased by 2.9 %.
In January 2010, the number of employees in industry in the Republic of Macedonia, in comparison with the average number of employees in industry in 2005, decreased by 14.6 %.
