During January of 2009 were exported 6,642 mln leks commodities, decreasing 11.6 percent compared with January 2008 and decreasing 4.5 percent compared with the December 2008.

There were imported 27,796 mln leks commodities decreasing 10.5 percent compared with respectively month of the previous year and decreasing 35.5 percent compared with December 2008.

This month the trade deficit is 21,154 mln leks signing a decrease of 10.1 percent compared with January 2008 and signing a decrease of 41.5 percent compared with December of 2008.

Trade with the EU countries is 69.3 percent. The main trade partners remain Italy and Greece. With Italy the export is 73.5 percent and the import 27.4 percent, while with Greece the export is 7.5 percent and the import 17.7 percent.

Some of the partner countries with which our export and import is increased are: in exports, Austria, Germany, France, Spain, Switzerland, etc and in imports, Great Britain, Bulgaria, Greece, France, Sweden, etc.

The comparison with the previous month of some group commodities shows that:

Export of group “Machinery, equipment spares parts” increased 24.1 percent, “Chemical and plastical products” increased 11.3 percent, “Textile and footwear” increased 7.4 percent, etc. While export of group “Construction materials and metals” decreased 32 percent, etc.

Import of “Machinery, equipment spares parts” decreased 42.1 percent, ”Chemical and plastically products” decreased 39.2 percent “Food, beverages, tobacco” decreased 34.6 percent, “Minerals, fuels, electricity” decreased 32.1 percent, etc.

In January 2009, the import of goods with excise is 2,989 mln leks or 10.8 percent of the total import. During this month, the import of goods with excise decreased 5.1 percent, compared with January of 2008. Oil fuel products are the main imported goods in the group of goods with excise (68.1 percent).
