


































TIRANA (Albania), September 3 (SeeNews) - Privately held commercial American Bank of Albania (ABA), majority owned by Italy's Sanpaolo IMI, has changed its name to Intesa Sanpaolo Bank Albania to reflect a change in its ownership structure, the central bank in Tirana said on Wednesday.
Now Intesa Sanpaolo Bank of Albania has to enter the change in the national register, Bank of Albania said in a statement. Italy's Sanpaolo IMI bought 80% of ABA in 2006.
Intesa Sanpaolo Bank Albania net profit rose by 9.0% last year to 1.04 billion leks ($12.4 million/8.55 million euro). Its loan portfolio increased by 22% to 30.7 billion leks in 2007. The bank served over 89,000 clients in 2007, 31% up from 2006.
