April 8 (SeeNews) - The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) said it has delivered six photovoltaic (PV) systems to six public institutions in the municipalities of Diber and Klos in Albania, as part of a $859,000 (792,800 euro) project funded by Japan and implemented by UNDP to accelerate energy transition in Albania.
The PV systems have been installed in high schools, kindergartens and municipality buildings. The total renewable energy capacity installed through this project amounts to 542 kW, following installations in the municipalities of Shkoder and Permet, the UNDP said in a press release last week.
The project also focuses on enhancing policy frameworks and financing mechanisms through the use of Japanese technological expertise, to address market obstacles and promote adoption of solar PV systems, the Japanese embassy said in 2022 when the project was first announced.
