February 16 (SeeNews) - The Croatian government said it has approved a 592.5 million euro ($637 million) programme to boost the local dairy sector until 2030.
The strategy has three goals: increasing the number of cows, sheep and goats in milk production, boosting productivity of milk production and ensuring the availability and sufficiency of production capacity, agriculture minister Marija Vuckovic told a weekly cabinet session on Thursday, according to an audio recording published on the government’s website.
Funding for the programme will primarily come from the state budget, with the European Union serving as its main source.
A total of 60.9 million euro has been allocated for this strategy in the Croatian state budget for 2024, with an additional 80.8 million euro earmarked from the projections for the state budget for the following year.
