April 9 (SeeNews) - The net profit of Albanian banks rose to 6.3 billion leks ($67.2 million/61.8 million euro) in the first two months of 2024, from 5.3 billion leks reported for the same period last year, the Albanian Association of Banks (AAB) said on Tuesday.
The outstanding loan portfolio of banks in Albania totalled 745.2 billion leks at the end of February, increasing from 711.4 billion leks a year earlier, AAB said in a monthly report, quoting Albanian central bank data.
Deposits in Albanian banks increased to 1,620 billion leks as at the end of February from 1,529 billion leks a year earlier.
The total assets of the country's banking system grew to 1,981 billion leks, from 1,881 billion leks as at the end of February 2023.
The figures comprise the financial results of eleven Albanian banks. Banka Kombetare Tregtare (BKT) was the largest among them in terms of assets at the end of last year.
