April 5 (SeeNews) - Romania's retail sales increased by a seasonally and working-day adjusted 6.5% year-on-year in the first two months of the 2024, the national statistical office said on Friday.
Sales of food, beverages and tobacco increased by an annual 3.4% during January-February, non-food sales rose 11.9% and sales of fuels climbed 2%, the statistical office said in a statement.
Based on unadjusted data, retail sales climbed 9.8% on the year between January and February. In February alone, Romania's retail sales increased by an adjusted 7.1% year-on-year.
As against the previous month, the adjusted retail turnover volume in February inched up by 0.6% thanks to 1.9% higher sales of automotive fuels. The sales of non-food products ticked up by 0.9%, while the sales of food, beverages, and tobacco edged up by 0.2%. The figures do not include trade in motor vehicles and motorcycles.
