April 2 (SeeNews) - Albanian microfinance institution Fondi Besa said on Tuesday it is introducing Western Union services in all of its branches under an agreement with Union Financiar Tirane, the sole agent of the US-based money transfer intermediator in the Balkan country.
The partnership agreement aligns with both companies’ objective to broaden their reach across Albania, the microfinancing company said in a social media post.
Fondi Besa will now be able to provide Western Union money transfers, utility payments, as well as other Union Financiar services such as subscriptions for television, internet, and telephone.
Union Financiar Tirane has been providing Albanians with Western Union money transfer services since 1995. According to its website, the company also operates in Kosovo, North Macedonia, Croatia and Switzerland.
Fondi Besa was established in Tirana in 2008, with a focus on lending activities for small and medium enterprises, and inclusivity of the underbanked. According to its website, it has 77 offices across Albania.
